Yvonne Dolan's book did not promise what it couldn't deliver. The activities were hands-on and the rationale that prefaced each of the activities/therapeutic exercises provided encouragement without talking down to the reader. Also, the rationale gave the needed insight into the purpose of doing the activities.I liked that, from the start, she was adamant about changing one's outlook on life from survivor to someone who thrives! What a great change of perspective, from drudgery to delight. I caught myself giving some of my students the pep talk (don't survive, thrive!).Insightful book.Great tool for all therapistsVery practical and useful-will be using it for some time.An excellent book I have been sharing with clients for yearssuperbthis book was recommended to me for self help, many short illustrationsAs a Clinical Psychiatrist treating patients for PTSD, this workbook has been a valuable resource in my practice for 10 plus years. While many people do not manage to do every one of the projects outlined, all the projects are helpful in exploring one's "authentic self". Often those who suffer trauma have been so focused on avoiding conflict and taking care of others for so long that they have not had the opportunity to discover what they really like and who they really want to be. This book provides practical exercises to help in this process of self discovery and in reconnecting with day to day life in a creative and innovative manner.
