I read some of the complaints about this product - I did not notice the extreme smell mentioned. There was a bit of an odor, but I associated it with "moving truck" and it didn't bother me. It also dissipated as these were exposed to air. These are definitely thin, and sharp edges will poke through if wrapped too tightly. However, for my use (I used them as buffers in a portable storage container) they did an excellent job. I did not wrap anything upholstered with these - I just used them around things like chair legs that were in the upside down position in the container, to keep them from getting scratched or scratching other things. I did use heavier moving blankets for the larger items and the combination worked out well - all my belongings arrived at my final destination in the same condition they were packed.Renting from Uhaul didn't seem economical for us, especially since we plan to move again relatively soon. These blankets do *not* resemble the thickness or durability of quilted varieties (like Uhaul's), but they will work for us. I wouldn't use them on light colored furniture (their color may bleed) or with anything very expensive (because of the consistency of thickness). We ordered 2 dozen, and one batch was thinner with occasional holes and the other thicker.They do smell and washing them only marginally helps (dry outside or at the laundry mat or your dryer may smell too). They shed badly in the dryer, but held up to washing (cold water) and drying (medium heat). My guess is they are made with a petroleum-based product or in a facility that heavily uses petroleum. I wouldn't use them in an enclosed space without ventilation. I hope I'm airing them out enough that the smell won't transfer to our stuff during the move. I'll be storing them in a plastic bin with charcoal. Made in China.I bought these thinking they would be like the Uhaul moving blankets and they were just OK. They aren't as large or thicker as the uhaul blankets but they did the job i needed them to do. They were perfect for the price because uhaul wanted a ton of money to just rent them and these i get to keep. I move a lot so it was just practical for me to buy them. The color was as it looks in the picture. The only other thing i would say about the product is they kinda smelled when you first open them but it didnt really bother me because i was putting them in a moving truck.This item arrives in a bundle held together by plastic straps held together with metal clamps. After unpacking the blankets were very stiff and had a strange smell almost similar to kerosene. Other than that they worked well for protecting our furniture during out move. After some time the blankets did become less stiff and the smell dissipated over time.I used these pads to package/protect glass from various pieces of furniture (china cabinets, side/end tables, etc) while moving. They performed well. They are thicker than I would have thought (not uhaul quality, but not far off). They do have a strong oily smell that wont go away, but if you can get pass that, they are a good buy.Fast shipping and a good product for the money. I was moving 4 miles and needed to protect some framed artwork and these did the trick. They were pretty itchy to the touch and a couple of them got warn thin after pulling tape off so knocking down 1 star. For value and ease of delivery though its hard to complainThese moving/furniture pads are thinner than I expected, but for the price they did what needed to be done. The size worked well for a variety of bookcases and other furniture I was moving and, despite being on the thin side, they did not tear or rip at all.Worked out great for my move. Helped to protect furniture from scratches and dings. Bought again and if ever needed again I know where to buy. Some had slight odor but it’s for furniture and long term storage so it didn’t bother me. A lot better than scratches and messed up furniture.
